The Story!
In preparation to see the smog ref I put on all the smog components for the 1969 engine that I could. However, I could not put on a stock thermostatically controlled air cleaner (which ended up being the only thing I got gigged for). I have obtained a VW bus air filter (which mounts to the side instead of the top of the carb) in the event I'm not successful in obtainning the special exemption. I also noticed the gas tank was just had an open vent to the engine compartment (yikes!), so I installed a vent cartridge in the wheel well (similar to Eric Austin's on www.Bradleygt.com). Pictures show vent before and after.
The 4th & 5th pics show the last of the infamous smog items - they are a thermostatically controlled air cleaner from a VW bus or Karmon Ghia that sits beside the engine with a pipe that runs from the carburetor to the air cleaner. I had fabricate a shelf and the connecting pipe.
The last picture shows the engine in its current state, after receiveing the SB 100 Certificate of Sequence in January 2009 that allowed me to reclassify the car as a 1961model, making it exempt from smog components.

The post SB100 engine shown below is has 1641cc, aftermarket fan shroud, alternator, electric fuel pump dual 40+mm Kadron carbs, Pertronix Ingnition, remote oil cooler with thermostatic switched fan and mild cam.
